Aftergrowth is a top-down survival game for one to five players in which you wake with nothing but a notebook and a salvaged tablet carrying a hand-drawn map that fills in as you walk.
Survival basics are tracked closely: keep fed, watered and warm, because night, winter, rain, snow and wading through rivers all chill you, while clothes and a fire warm you.
A fire goes out if nobody feeds it, and cuts keep bleeding until you bind them.
Progression is research, not levels: you find notes and schematics in ruins and work them out at a bench to learn new crafts, and the whole camp shares that knowledge.
Tools and weapons start as wood and stone, then steel is smelted from ore and scrap at a forge; armour moves from cloth to leather to plate, and revolvers and rifles are rare finds.
The camp is built room by room, with walls upgrading from wood to stone to steel and doors from wood to steel, plus lookouts, stored water, a smoker for curing meat and a generator running an electric fence, wired gate, alarm bell and floodlights.
Larger packs extend trips, and bicycles found chained in towns can be mended and ridden.
Potatoes, beans and squash grow through four seasons: summer is good, autumn is slow and nothing grows in winter, and food spoils unless preserved on a drying rack, in a smoker, in pickling jars or in a larder.
A wild dog can be tamed by feeding it night after night; it follows you, carries saddlebags and fetches, and travellers you help can move into your camp, work it and die for good.
Each rival faction keeps a ledger of how loud and violent you have been on its ground and remembers where it lost men, so raiders arrive from several sides, some carrying grenades, and take their camps to cool their anger or clear them all to stop the raids.
Weather doubles as cover: rain and storms drown out your noise while storms and fog cut everyone's sight, and the store page presents the game as a co-op-capable survival sandbox rather than a scripted campaign (BOUNDED: official Steam description, checked 2026-10-26).
