01

The headline numbers

Bee Swarm Simulator currently has 46 bee types that can be discovered and collected.

They come from eggs, and the probability of hatching a particular rarity or type depends on the egg's rarity - a Gold Egg, for example, can hatch an Epic, Legendary or Mythic bee.

The eight egg types are Basic, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Star, Mythic, specific bee eggs and event bee eggs, plus gifted variants of silver, gold, diamond and mythic eggs and the Choose-A-Mythic Egg.

Bear Bee used to cost Robux exclusively, but since the July 2024 update you can get a Bear Bee Egg voucher from the retro challenge, by killing the Tunnel Bear, or by trading for it.

02

Why bees matter at all

Bees follow you around, collect pollen from fields, and defend their beekeeper from mobs and bosses.

They are one of the primary pollen sources because they do it automatically, and most bees produce Ability Tokens.

On returning to the hive they convert pollen into Honey, the main currency used in shops, and the hive is also where they sleep when energy runs out.

Higher-level bees collect and convert more pollen, carry more energy to work longer, and can attack higher-level mobs.

Photon Bee and Exhausted Bee are the exceptions to the energy rule - both have unlimited energy.

03

Hive slots: 25 to 50, and beyond

Once the 25 default hive slots are filled, you can buy extra slots from the Mountain Top Shop.

Those slots increase in price exponentially, and they take the hive from 25 up to a maximum of 50 bees.

It is now possible to exceed 50 using mechanics that grant temporary bees, including Onett's Lid Art, Honeyday Candles and Gummy Siege, plus Spicy Bee's Inferno.

Summoned bees are temporary: they collect pollen, use a random hive slot to convert, have unlimited energy until they despawn, and do not return to the hive if the player dies.

Gifted summoned bees do not grant a hive bonus and do not count toward average hive level, but they can still help activate passives even though passives do not affect them.

04

Gifted bees and the real odds

A gifted bee has improved stats and gives a bonus to the whole hive or the player, varying by bee and not stacking with the same bonus.

Feeding a Rare bee its favourite treat has a 1/8000 (0.0125%) gifted chance, Epic is 1/10000 (0.01%), and both Legendary and Common are 1/12000 (0.0083%).

Mythic bees are the hardest at 1/24000 (0.004%).

Using royal jelly or hatching a Basic Egg gives a 1/287 chance of a gifted bee.

Three routes are guaranteed: Star Jelly, feeding a Star Treat, or hatching a star egg. Gingerbread Bears carry a 1% chance and Aged Gingerbread Bears 1.1%, both limited to Beesmas events.

05

Practical hive advice

Move closer to your hive while converting: bees convert honey faster when they do not have to fly as far.

Stay on the pad in front of your hive while converting - moving off it stops conversion entirely, though barely stepping off does not.

Avoid jumping with over 20 jump power while your bees are making honey, because it halts conversion.

Because bees fly to you and ignore flowers and mobs when you get too far away, wandering off mid-conversion wastes collection time.

Each bee's average attack is approximately 3, and all event bees have only one disliked field - except Windy Bee, which dislikes two.

06

Reading your hive in game

When a bee runs out of energy a notification appears reading '[Bee's name] is out of energy! It's going to sleep.' - that message is your cue to stop waiting on conversion.

Sleeping bees emit faint Z particles in their hive slot for a while until they wake, which makes it easy to see who is resting at a glance.

The hive is where bees sleep when energy runs out and where they rest for about 15 seconds if the beekeeper dies or resets.

If you get too far from your bees they will fly to you, ignoring every flower and mob in the way - useful when you need them, wasteful when you are just travelling.

Slow internet has a real cost: lagging connections give bees a high chance of being slower at fighting mobs, making honey and collecting pollen.

07

Eggs, Royal Jelly and changing a bee

The rarity of the egg decides what you can get: a Gold Egg, for instance, can hatch into an Epic, Legendary or Mythic bee.

You can change the type of an already-hatched bee by applying a Royal Jelly or another egg, which is how players fix a hive that rolled badly.

Royal Jelly and Basic Eggs carry a 1/287 chance of producing a gifted bee, the best odds of any random route.

Hive slots are bought from the Mountain Top Shop and rise in price exponentially, so the later slots are the expensive ones.

Temporary bees from Onett's Lid Art, Honeyday Candles, Gummy Siege and Spicy Bee's Inferno exist outside those slot limits entirely, which is how hives exceed 50 bees.
