Auras are equippable VFX, and they are the entire point of Sol's RNG: the game is built around rolling them.
The two obtainment routes are rolling and crafting, plus a small number that come from special limited-time events.
They vary enormously in design and rarity, becoming far more detailed and impressive the higher the rarity gets.
Because the game's purpose is the roll itself, most player questions are about odds, biomes and whether a given aura is still obtainable.
Some auras belong to a specific biome. Rolling that aura inside its own biome gives it a native rarity, which is always lower than its normal rarity.
Rolling a biome aura outside its biome is called a Breakthrough, usually abbreviated to BT, and it carries an increased rarity - so the same aura is harder to get away from home.
Each biome has its own multiplier that decreases the rarity of its auras while that biome is present, which is why players wait for weather rather than rolling blind.
Some auras are breakthrough-locked, meaning they have no native biome and must be obtained at their normal rarity - examples include Perpetual, CHROMATIC: GENESIS, Symphony, Overture and Sophyra.
Others are locked to their biome entirely, such as GLITCH or LEVIATHAN, and a few are limited to rare biomes like CYBERSPACE and SINGULARITY - GARGANTUA, CYTOKINESIS, Galaxy, PIXELATION and VIRTUAL // FULL CONTROL among them.
TRANSCENDENT auras have a rarity over 1 in 999,999,999, making them the hardest rolls in the game with the most unique cutscenes.
The TRANSCENDENT list includes nyctophobia, PIXELATION, LUMINOSITY, BREAKTHROUGH and EQUINOX, plus two craftable ones: AWAKENED ABYSSAL HUNTER and MATRIX: STEAMPUNK.
DIMENSIONAL auras exceed 1 in 7,500,000,001, and only one qualifies: MASTER-HAND, which can only be obtained by crafting.
Eight auras are craftable in total: Eclipse, Cell Asteroides, HYPER-CHROMA, A.T.L.A.S., AWAKENED ABYSSAL HUNTER, MATRIX: STEAMPUNK and the wiki's remaining two crafting entries.
illuionary - written lowercase by the community - sits at 1 in 10,000,000 and is not affected by luck at all, so no amount of potions changes the odds.
Rarity tiers are tied to cutscenes, so the animation you see tells you roughly what you rolled before you read the name.
EPIC auras play a unique cutscene and post a purple message to the server chat.
UNIQUE auras play a cutscene with a four-pointed star and a deep bass sound; LEGENDARY ones add a white screen-cracking sequence after the star, with a few exceptions that reuse a global cutscene.
MYTHIC auras use an eight-pointed star with a bell chime, EXALTED ones reuse the over-1,000,000 cutscene but with a coloured background instead of a grey gradient, and GLORIOUS adds extra effects on top of the eight-pointed star.
Anything above 99,999,998 rarity - plus GLITCH and Borealis - counts as a global: the announcement goes to everyone on the server and each has a custom cutscene.
Specific auras can have mutations, which are rarer versions of the original with a similar design and concept, typically recoloured or tweaked.
Mutation names usually carry an identifier with a colon showing the aura they came from, such as Exotic : APEX or CHROMATIC : GENESIS, while some like Kromat1k and UNBOUND stand alone.
CHALLENGED and CHALLENGED+ auras have a specific condition that must be met before you are even able to roll them.
If an aura is completely exclusive to a biome and sits below 9,999,998 rarity, it gets the class two tiers ahead of what it would otherwise have - the wiki's example is a BASIC-rarity aura classified as UNIQUE.
The SINGULARITY non-GLORIOUS auras are an exception, because they can be obtained relatively easily with a Singularity Catalyst, and meta is another exception since it is not affected by luck.
Auras with abilities affect other players and the user, and those abilities tend to be more impressive the rarer the aura is.
Chase biomes rather than raw hours: a biome multiplier lowers the rarity of its auras, which is the single biggest lever available to a normal player.
Decide whether you are rolling for a native roll or accepting a Breakthrough, because the BT odds are worse but the aura is the same item.
Remember that crafting exists as a separate route - eight auras cannot be rolled at all, including the only DIMENSIONAL aura in the game.
Watch for limited-time event auras such as PUMP and Wonderland, which are only obtainable during their event window and cannot be rolled afterwards.
Treat luck-unaffected auras like illusionary and meta as fixed targets: for those, patience is the only strategy that changes anything.
